Man thinks Gunpoint is a real place.
Watching the television with his parents when he was young, local man Kevin Caster made a logical assumption about something he saw on the national news every day.
"Hostages held at gunpoint.", "tourists held at gunpoint.", "Shop robbed at gunpoint." and so on. Because of these reports Kevin got under the impression that Gunpoint was a real geographical place. A place where a lot of crime happened...
Now 20 years later, Kevin has dedicated his life to stopping crime at Gunpoint. By day he is mayor and chef of the police corps of Gunpoint, and by night he is local superhero "BroomBoy".
We visited him in Bryce mental institution in Alabama.
The first thing we notice when we see Kevin is the scarf he is wearing. With the colours red and yellow, it is the official mayor's scarf of Gunpoint. We ask him how he became mayor of the little town:
"Well it all starts with a lot of dedication, and putting yourself out there for the needs of the people. When I first came to Gunpoint I was nothing. I had nothing, not even a place to sleep or a dollar to buy me food. But I committed myself to helping the people there. I stopped several crimes, helped a lot of people out and I got stuff in return. They helped me with sleeping arrangements, food and so on.
One day I helped this family when they were being robbed, turns out they were best friends with the former mayor, and they introduced me to him. There was a party in my honour, and I got the key to the city.
A few days later the mayor died in a tragic terror attack on his house in the suburbs. So I stepped up, used my key to open the gates to the city, and took the place of the mayor. Everyone immediately accepted me. I got a lot of presents, women and everything I could wish for. That's how I became the mayor."
That's quite the story. You really worked your way up! So how did you decide to become a local superhero at night?
"Are you asking me the origin story of BroomBoy? Well then, you're in for a treat!" Kevin smiles, breaths heavily and looks in the distance. "It all started 1 year after I became the mayor. I was doing my rounds to take on crime wherever I could, but there was something different this time...
I could feel it in the air. It was hot, and it felt like the sky was pushing me down. When I came to the business district, and I walked between the skyscrapers I suddenly faced the most fearsome foe I had ever seen! It was a giant, 4 meters tall, and he radiated heat like he was the sun. I fell to my knees, and thought I met my unfortunate ending. But then Superman came and he saved the day.
After the short but heavy rumble in the city, Superman had frozen the giant and tied him up to take it with him to somewhere. Maybe his fortress of solitude or something. But first Superman came to me. He introduced himself as Clark Kent, and thanked me for the great work I had been doing for Gunpoint. He offered me a Kryptonian Broomstick and told me I had to become like him, sweeping crime wherever I went. So I accepted his gift and from that day on I roamed the streets at night as BroomBoy the mighty sweeper!"
Awesome, you met Superman! And you just gave everyone his secret identity!
"I like to blow my whistle. It was the first thing I learned when I first met my dear friend Snowden."
So what powers does this Kryptonian Broomstick have?
"Whenever there is crime, I just have to sweep it up with the stick. It's indestructible. If there is a criminal robbing a place, I go in, sweep the criminal up, and that's it. I still cannot believe I got such an almighty power! Just yesterday, I even got an invitation to join the Justice league of America!"
Mayor Caster, thank you for your time, and a great thank you from me and all our readers for the great work you've been doing for Gunpoint! Maybe someday, people will have the opportunity to travel there without being raped or robbed or shot!
